Sarah Applebaum is a Partner at RenewableTech Ventures, a Cleantech VC that invests in early stage companies in Canada & the US. She previously was an investor with Pangaea Ventures, an advanced materials VC, where she developed and launched their seed-stage investment vehicle. Sarah is also a community activator - hosting quarterly meetups for Vancouver founders and start-up leaders.

Shannon Bard is the global Director of Innovation for Hemmera and Ausenco.  She developed and launched a global corporate Innovation Program for >2000 staff to undertake industrial-academic-government R&D collaborations to develop and commercialize new science and engineering services to solve sustainability issues. She oversees a Board-directed innovation incubator to invest in applying new technologies and approaches, including AI, automation, data analytics, clean tech, VR/AR & digital solutions, biological and genomic tools to reduce the environmental footprint of industry activities. Formerly, Shannon was a professor of Environmental Science at Dalhousie University, Director of the Marine Ecotoxicology Laboratory and co-winner of the Senate Environmental Award.

Fahreen Bhimani was previously Senior Director, Global Commercial & Corporate Development at Augurex Lifesciences, where she led sales & marketing and business development for the company’s product portfolio in Rheumatology. Prior to this Fahreen was responsible for worldwide sales & marketing strategies for Cardiome Pharma Corp’s cardiovascular product portfolio and she managed the company’s re-launch of BRINAVESS® in Europe.  Fahreen completed an MBA at Cornell University and holds a BBA in Finance and Marketing and a BSc. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Simon Fraser University.

Karen Boodram’s 30-year+ career has focused on the commercialization of new medical technologies to improve patient health outcomes. In the Pharma industry, Karen managed the advancement of key drug products/franchises through the commercialization process, including regulatory, clinical development, marketing and reimbursement. In the financial industry as a Life Science analyst, Karen focused on helping public Life Science companies advance their medical technologies to commercialization or acquisition through the support of the equity markets. Karen has an MBA, BSc.Pharm. and, BSc. Bioch.

Jon Cartwright is a serial entrepreneur and advisor. As Chairman / Founder at Foodee (online marketplace for office meals) and Chief Growth Officer at Zolo Realty (Canada's largest online real estate brokerage) Jon's core skills include sales, go to market strategies, fundraising, team building and business strategy. Jon's passions are for process innovation, serving customers, and helping entrepreneurs. When not working Jon can be found travelling, enjoying the outdoors and live music.

Udi Daon is a serial entrepreneur, inventor and company builder. He was the founder, CEO and inventor of Navigate Surgical Technologies and has brought multiple products to market. Udi has helped to create numerous ventures with his extensive experience in strategy development,  market analysis, IP creation, product development, sales process and licensing agreement.

Tiffany Hamilton led mobile initiatives at Subway Restaurants, launching their first nationwide mobile app across the U.S. and Canada to over 25,000 franchise locations. She was formerly a Client Partner at Blast Radius, a digital agency, driving new digital marketing initiatives. Previously, Tiffany lived in Germany for six years working at Bertelsmann, Europe’s largest media company, on new opportunities in disruptive media technologies in Europe and North America. She holds a Bachelor of Mathematics and Masters in Applied Science from the University of Waterloo.

Chang Han is an entrepreneur, consultant-investor, and professor, specializing in entrepreneurship, startup growth strategy and market entry.  He co-founded 3 currently operating businesses in biotech, international trade for sports performance beverages, and electric mountain bikes, and is also an investor and shareholder for several other startups in urban mining, CPG and tech. Chang provides consulting and advisory for several SME's, often acting as in-house counsel or Chief Legal Officer for incorporation of startups, and for IP, contracts, regulatory, and HR.

Gabe Kalmar has co-founded a number of companies, including Kinetek.  He was also with Genome BC for a decade in a number of executive roles, including operations, business development and commercialization.  Gabe continues to work with several companies and public-private partnerships as a management and operations consultant, and board member. He holds a PhD from Simon Fraser University in molecular virology.

Paul Needham is a Fintech and Cleantech serial entrepreneur with over 19 years of experience as founder, CEO and board member, leading companies from inception to successful exits. Paul currently serves as board member and senior advisor to energy access enterprises, financing facilities and social impact investment funds that are accelerating the energy transition. Paul cofounded and led Simpa Networks, the leading rooftop solar leasing company in India. Simpa was acquired by ENGIE in November 2018.

Fraser Pogue is the founder of Fraser Instruments and co-founder of Popul8. He is an adjunct professor at UBC, teaching Entrepreneurship and helping students from ideation through to first revenue. Fraser studied computer science and obtained his MBA both from UBC.

Michelle Sklar is an entrepreneur and tech executive for startups and scale ups with expertise in strategic communications, marketing and PR. Having recently been the Director of Conferences role for SAAS NORTH, Canada's largest conference for SaaS companies scaling up, she is now the Events Director for the #BCTECH Summit. Michelle's core strengths are in brand & digital marketing, project management, team building and marketing operations. Michelle is passionate about people, innovation and helping entrepreneurs tell great stories.

Francis Steiner is a specialist in building early stage companies from idea identification to team building through to business development and sales.  He has launched 4 companies with the last one exiting to Phillips. He has worked in the UK as a strategy consultant across multiple industries for PE firms. He has a BA from the University of Toronto and an MBA from London Business School.

Tom Urban is the Founder of Agribusiness Advisors and has worked in the agriculture and start-up world for 30 years. Agribusiness Advisors currently has 19 early-stage investments in its portfolio representing a broad cross-section of the Ag value chain. Tom received his undergraduate degree from Middlebury College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Michele Wallcraft is a passionate and creative sales driven professional with an extensive track record (+20 years) in direct sales, business development and integrated marketing for both startup and Fortune 500 technology companies. Michele is currently an Executive in Residence at entrepreneurship@UBC and loves mentoring, training and coaching sales teams.  She has a keen interest in new concepts, social impact, and chocolate and owns/operates a boutique shared workspace in Vancouver.

Peter Wong is the CEO of Riot Micro, a cellular IoT company developing wireless chipsets. A tech industry veteran, Peter has held senior management roles at PMC-Sierra/Microchip, LSI/Broadcom and HP. Peter continues to advise and support tech companies in Vancouver.
