Let's celebrate: Here’s who graduated from the HATCH Accelerator program this March
Something a part of every startup’s venture building journey? Achieving milestones….and sometimes, we are lucky enough to be included in them. For us, a major milestone is helping ventures advance over time and, eventually, spread their wings.
On this note…
Earlier this month we said a bittersweet goodbye to 5 ventures as they graduated from the HATCH Accelerator Program: FTSY, Green Metrics, Java Group Programs, Koonkie and Stoko. Members of our innovation ecosystem came out to the HATCH Makerspace to witness graduates “walk the stage” and celebrate their accomplishments alongside our community of ventures, Entrepreneurs in Residence, team members and mentors.
In partnership with the Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems (ICICS), the HATCH Accelerator program works with up to 25 ventures at any given time, generating a steady stream of companies that are ready to scale. How? By providing the most talented entrepreneurs with the right mentorship, training, creative space and funding to take them to the next level.
The process of creating a company requires perseverance. The end product however, can be game changing. Over the course of 12-24 months, these 5 ventures traversed unknown startup territory and forged their own path. They’ve come a long way since starting the program, making an impact as part of our community while contributing to entrepreneurship@UBC’s own innovation story.
Meet the graduates:
FTSY is creating technology to match the shape of your foot with key dimensions from a selection of shoes, to find the sizes and styles that suit users best. Their purpose? To improve the shoe shopping experience so that everyone can experience their Cinderella moment.
Green Metrics is a clean technology software that provides energy service companies with software-as-service solutions to drive energy efficiency improvements and minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Java Group Programs is providing proprietary peer mentoring programs to Senior Living organizations, resulting in a 30% reduction in depression and providing significant additional benefits to staff, caregivers and family.
Koonkie has created tailored solutions grounded in extensive biological knowledge allowing you to spend time using data to build and improve research and add value to your company and projects. What’s up next? Koonkie is currently working on Phandi - their online genomic information pipeline.
Stoko builds products that fit, feel, and function like the human body starting with joint support products that people never have to see, feel, or think about. Recently, Stoko raised a $2.6m CAD seed financing led by notable Angel Investors in Vancouver.
Congratulations to all of the teams! We look forward to championing you during the rest of your venture building journey and can't wait to see where it takes you.
